I am overwhelmed with paper and reports. Too much. When do we get to just teach? And now they want us regular core teachers to add exercise to the class period. Lemme see — 55 minutes allocated per class. Typical class size = 25. That’s less than 3 minutes per student per day, and that’s if there are no interruptions.
I finally get placed in a school where the kids are manageable, and here comes the admin with all this extra stuff. I have brought work home everyday since Monday before last. I’m tired. I’m irritable. I haven’t cooked myself a decent meal since last week. I’m surprised I got to the grocery store even though everything is in the freezer.
Just since last Friday, I’ve had to do the following:
- teach 90 kids
- administer the state test to 90 kids
- administer reading tests
- complete lesson plans
- design lessons
- complete quartile reports
- complete sub folder
- answer emails
- prepare demerit report
- put together a hard copy demerit report for display
- call parents
- return phone calls
- teach
- manage classroom and deal with behavior problems
It’s too much. I’m exhausted.
This sucks.
